About the event

Free to the Public!

Presented by the National Lawyers Guild (UIUC), YWCA of the University of Illinois, and the Education Law Policy Society (UIUC), this workshop is for all community members.

Being stopped by police is stressful. Ideally, everyone remains safe and has their rights respected. However, there are many recent examples of how that can go bad quickly. While the responsibility for keeping that experience safe lies with the police, not the people who have been stopped, knowing your rights is one tool to keep you safe. Learn what your rights are when stopped by police, and how to manage them during that.
